Integrating Traditional and Holistic
Addiction Recovery Methods

This website provides Traditional and Holistic resources and support for people who are battling addiction.

Overcoming addiction is a really difficult process because it can affect so many areas of your life. When you make the decision to get clean, oftentimes you are faced with so many challenges ahead that you don’t even know where to begin. The goal for Design Your Detox is to help you navigate the recovery journey and explore a wide range of methods and resources that can help along the way.

Designing a detox and recovery plan is a very important process that you should start thinking about as soon as you decide that you want to get clean. Regardless of how you decide to do this, it's going to be a completely new chapter in your life. So, get creative and focus on making this next chapter amazing!

Let this be a transformational journey of self-commitment.

This is the point in your life where you can take time to focus on your healing and identify all of the unhealthy habits and patterns that you want to release from your life. Addiction is typically a condition of a much larger problem, although the addiction will exasperate any problems that were already there. It can spin your life completely out of balance; some people more than others. It’s going to take planning to figure out how you are going to overcome this and to identify everything about your life that is going to need focus or change.

It doesn’t matter if you’re getting clean because you have to or because you want to; all that matters is that you’re getting clean. The most important first step is to make a commitment to yourself to fight with everything you have inside of you. Even if you don’t want to get clean, deep down you know you eventually have to...

So why not do it now?..

Take a minute to think about what you want your life to look like, no matter how big or small the changes would be. Imagine yourself clean and happy in your body, at peace with life, at peace with loved ones. Imagine the home of your dreams, the job of your dreams, the life scenario of your dreams. Hold that picture in your mind, and then begin thinking of ways to get yourself there.

This next chapter of your substance-free life doesn’t have to be dreaded. It can be anticipated and planned for, something you begin with a positive outlook. Take your time and research different detox and recovery ideas. Put together a plan for yourself, figure out what your resources are, what your needs are, what your dreams are, and do the best you can.

Get Creative with the Process!

Even if you have little or no resources, it’s still possible to design and execute a detox and recovery plan. There are an extensive number of free resources locally and on the internet that can be used to make this journey what you need it to be, to give yourself a fighting chance at beating this dis-ease. You just have to be open to the process and be willing to accept that it’s going to come with difficulties and discomforts. To accept that fact and to move forward with the process anyway is a powerful and brave step to take.

"Something has gone badly wrong with our culture. We've created a culture where really large numbers of the people around us can't bear to be present in their daily lives. They need to medicate themselves to get through their day."
